10 sure-shot ways to beat JEE 2016 exam stress

It’s that period when candidates have less time in hand and lot of stress on mind. They revise at the maximum of their capacity, still feel unprepared. Have you ever wondered why?
It is lack of rest and over stress. It is generally observed aspirants quit food and sleep right before a few months of the exam due to tension. The trick is to relax and revise important topics. Too much of stress will only ruin your health in particular and life in general. Hence, stay calm.
We bring to you 10 ways to kick off JEE 2016 exam stress and score well in the examination.

Be positive throughout the process

Candidates should always stay positive. Remember, taking tension won’t help you in clearing the exam. Instead it might affect your health. If you let negative thoughts capture your mind, you will find it difficult to succeed. Always take note that you are your biggest motivation.

Create a to-do list

Set up a routine and follow it religiously. Doctors usually recommend students should get enough sleep at night before the exam. Experts say aspirants should adjust their biological clock according to the exam time to stay alert while appearing for the test. They say candidates should create a small to-do list or time table, noting what need to be done and at what time.

Look for a variety in studying spots

Sometimes students get bored sitting and revising at the same place. In such situation, a change in place of study/revision/practice helps. Try out different areas in your house that make you feel comfortable and productive. For instance, most students find sitting on the floor and revising comfortable. They feel sleepy when studying on the bed or sofa. The sleepy you are, the harder it is to focus on your books.

Eat healthy and sleep comfortably

One of the most common comprises that students tend to make during the exam period is sleep. You need about 8 hours of sleep regularly before the exam. A well-rested mind and body will grasp information more easily. Similarly, a fit and healthy body will make you feel energetic. Hence, candidates should eat fresh, green vegetables and drink lots of water.

Focus on quality not quantity

Everybody has that one friend who narrates his/her story of studying for 15 hours. Don’t get carried away by such stories; it gets stale soon. It is the quality not quantity that matters. If you finish the same number of chapters in relatively lesser time, you are the winner.

Take mock tests before appearing for JEE

Each one of us have one or more favorite topics, similarly we have topics that we don’t like hence avoid studying/revising it. In reality you should really focus on stuff you aren’t so familiar with. Mock tests are the best way to revise a particular topic. It not only tests your current knowledge but will help you identify areas that need more focus and attention.

Revision is mandatory

It is very important to revise what you have studied. But do not overdo it. Go slow and don’t keep revising the same thing again and again. Take break and try to practice problems that are important for the exam.

Take breaks

Break time is necessary to lighten and brighten your mind. Go in open air and relax your mind after long hours of JEE 2015 preparation. You can also meet up friends and go for walk, but don’t discuss about exam or stress.

Do exercise regularly

Exercises or meditation is recommended to increase concentration level while studying. Candidates are advised to include at least 1 hour of workout in their daily routine to stabilize the mind and body.

Keep hope

Lastly, don’t lose hope. Don’t be afraid of feeling confident (mind this, just confident not over-confident). Always think you are well-prepared and will give your best shot.

JEE Exam Pattern may not change for 2017 exam

JEE 2017 aspirants may not have to appear for an aptitude test, as there may not be any change in the existing two-tier pattern of JEE Main and Advanced.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national common entrance exam conducted to provide admissions to different engineering courses in NITs, CFTIs, IIITs and IITs.
In October 2015, HRD ministry had formed a committee to advice changes to the current JEE pattern. Following this, the committee recommended introducing an aptitude test. It also recommended that a National Authority for Testing (NAT) be formed that would conduct tests on the basis of which about 4 lakh students would be shortlisted for JEE. However, the ministry hasn’t taken any decision on this. According to few stakeholders, any change in the new aptitude exam, which is online, may be against the interest of the rural and socially backward students.
Ministry sources revealed that in search of a consent, there may not be any change from the existing pattern. It says that drafting a cognitive test is likely to be time-consuming, hence there may not be an immediate action on this; it may take quite some time.
The committee recommended to remove the weightage given to Class 12 board marks for admission into NITs and CFTIs. It said the 40% weightage given to the marks at the JEE (Main) level be discontinued.
On this, a senior official commented “But it was pointed out that when weightage has been given to the class 12 boards, the girls and rural students could do better. Keeping these equity issues in mind, the ministry is contemplating not to change this system for 2017.”
The final decision is yet to come. Stay tuned for the latest updates right on this blog.

JEE Repeater? Know the do’s and don’t’s to get success in the exam

Getting into the prestigious IITs is the dream of nearly every engineering aspirant in the country. Unfortunately not all make it to this elite institute in the first attempt. About 14 lakh candidates appear for JEE Mains every year and only 1.5 lakh qualify for the second level – JEE Advanced to get admitted in IITs or ISM Dhanbad.
If you are a repeater and planning to attempt JEE again, go for it. But beware this time! For scoring well in JEE this year, we have listed a few do’s and don’t’s for JEE repeater that you should keep in mind.
Take a close look at the do’s and don’t’s in this article.
Do’s and Don’t’s for JEE repeater is different from the Do’s and Don’t’s for those appearing for JEE 2016, fresh. Please read the below carefully.

Give it a fresh approach

If you are repeating a year, it is very important to start with a fresh and new approach. As you are preparing like a repeater, things might become monotonous and boring. In such case, speak to your inner self and say “I will study smart and earn good marks.” This type of attitude will keep you motivated and maintain your interest level in studies.

Don’t think it’s boring to study the same thing

Many students while preparing as repeater think it’s boring to study the same thing over and over again. In their back of mind they always think they are a repeater and have to study everything from scratch. This usually happens. However, in such situation don’t get pressurized and feel depressed. Study with positive outlook and give it your best shot.

Refer good study material

Do not enroll with the same classes or study using same notes as you did last time. Look for a new preparation material, especially those prepared by someone in the same field. Plancess provides JEE Study Material created by Top 100 JEE Rankers. You can take help from friends or relatives for selecting the right material.

Work smart along with hard

JEE cannot be cleared with just hard work. One needs to be smart while working hard. Many students feel that they don’t need to be very attentive or hard working, since it’s their second time and they know the syllabus very well. If you think like this, change your thought. You cannot have easy going attitude, since it is the toughest entrance exam.

Get JEE counselling

What can be better than getting trained by someone who is an expert in this field? An interaction with JEE counselor will help you prepare well for this exam. A JEE counselor will let you know what portion of the syllabus to focus on, how to master a particular topic, what to do and avoid during the preparation phase, how to overcome depression/stress and many more.

Plan your preparation well in advance

Planning for JEE is crucial to complete the syllabus on time and devotee the remaining time for revision and practice. The more you practice the better understanding you will get and the easy it will be for you to solve the problems.
In a nutshell, it is you who will decide whether you are going to succeed or lose. Your thinking, attitude and approach are crucial to clear JEE.

Do you know how to make notes for IIT JEE 2016?

Cracking JEE is difficult, but certainly not impossible. With few smart steps you can prepare well for this toughest engineering entrance examination and pass it with flying colors. While preparing for JEE one must make personal notes. It works well for almost every aspirant. They can turn out to be the rank booster of your JEE 2016 result.
Personal notes are also the best last minute revision tool. Most students prefer handmade notes during their last minute revision. Nobody has time to refer those fat bulky books during the last few days/hours of the examination. At that time it is these short notes that work at its best.
In this post, I’ll be discussing how to make effective notes during JEE 2016 preparation.

Make simple notes not decorated books

When I say make notes I do not mean decorating it with colorful pencils and pens. That’s a bad idea! Make clean and easily understandable notes using not more than 2 color pens. Create your notes in such a way that the next time you refer it you will understand everything written on that piece of paper.

Copying formulae or theory completely not a good idea

Don’t copy down theory or formulae as it is in your handwritten notes. Never do it! Write the tricks and short cuts explained by your teachers in the class. Notes made during the lectures are the best way to revise and remember important points and solution of the problems.

Avoid a professional look

Prepare running notes; don’t waste your time in giving it a professional look. Don’t do that since that’s only for you and not for school submission. You are free to create your notes in the language you understand very well – your mother tongue or any other language you know or like. Try to keep it simple and interesting; you are free to use funny, code or slang language.

Keep it straightforward

Short notes, as the name implies, should be short and to the point. Don’t write useless things; avoid big paragraphs and sentences, since that will only complicate things. Prepare notes that you can refer and understand clearly.

Leave 1-2 blank pages to share your understanding

For people doing self-study, always leave 1-2 blank pages after every topic to note important points, questions and your understanding of that chapter. The idea is to capture important things that you might forget in a few days after studying that topic. Hence, note points quickly after studying.
That’s the power of making notes! Enjoy making yours :)

How to Crack IIT JEE Multiple Choice Questions?

Clearing JEE Main depends solely on cracking Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). To answer MCQs correctly, students need to read and follow special guidelines.
JEE Main multiple choice questions require aspirants to pick the correct answer from a set of options. There are generally four options to every question, out of which one or more than one option is correct. It is usually seen that candidates consider objective questions easy as compared to subjective.

Despite of the wide spread liking towards MCQs and JEE Main 2016 paper pattern, multiple choice questions could be difficult to tackle. At times, the choices may appear similar and therefore you might get confused. In order to answer the questions correctly, students need to have deeper insight of every topic in the syllabus.
Understanding this, IIT JEE Rankers and Subject Matter Experts from Plancess has listed down some useful IIT JEE Preparation Tips to crack IIT JEE multiple choice questions successfully!

Understand the question

Identify the important part of the question and apply your logic. Understand what the question is before marking the answer. Once you are sure, only then tick the answer. Choosing correct answer is really important, since every wrong answer might result in deduction.

Don’t be in hurry during JEE

Giving the right answer is very crucial in IIT JEE therefore mark the answers carefully. Don’t guess the answer too soon! Take some time to think and make necessary calculations. Stop and read the question and options carefully.

Choose technically correct option

It is often seen that people tend to ignore options like ‘all of the above’ and ‘none of the above’ thinking such options are never correct. In reality, these options tend to be right more often.  Don’t jump into any option abruptly.

Do a little guess work

Even though guess work is not always the best practice, it might work at times. If you are not sure of an answer, make a guess! Delete some options, which you think is incorrect and try to relate the leftovers with the questions to check what answer you get. Remember, guess work is not always beneficial. So try to avoid it!

Don’t change your answer

Avoid changing your answers frequently. Generally, first answer is always correct. Regularly changing the answer might prove wrong at the end. This also leads to confusion. Therefore, stick to one answer regularly.

Move on

Despite of so many attempts, if you are not getting the right answer, switch to the next question. Sticking to just one question will waste your time. Solve other questions, and return to this one once done with all. You can spend the remaining few minutes in solving this question.

The Bottom Line

Students can use the above tricks for both online and offline exams. Candidates should make sure they are stress free and calm before writing IIT JEE test. Since, due to tension you may lose concentration and might mark a wrong answer.
