Preparation directions for JEE Main and Advanced 2018

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted in two parts – JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission in various engineering colleges and courses in India. It is a highly competitive exam, so JEE aspirants must follow a study plan for the preparation. 2 years with +2 classes will be the ideal time for preparation, but it is also possible in 1 year.
We can divide the JEE Main and Advanced 2018 preparation in 3 parts. They are briefly described below.

Knowing the Exam Well

  • Structure of JEE Main:
    • Total time – 3hours
    • Total Questions – 90 MCQs
    • Total sections – 3 (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) each contains 30 questions.
  • Structure of JEE Advanced:
    • Total time –    3 hours    +    3 hours
    • Total paper –  Paper 1    +     Paper 2
    • Each paper is divided into 3 sections (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Topics covered by each tests:
    Both JEE Main and Advanced 2018 cover the same subjects but the topics will vary. To gain knowledge about the topics check JEE Main and Advanced official test syllabus.

Using Study Aids

  • Mock Tests:
In the official JEE website, mock tests are available that follow the same structure, format and content as the original exam. It will help you to understand the strong and weak points of your preparation. You can also buy books and solve the problems or join a coaching and give your mock tests there.
  • Previous Year Question Papers:
The question papers of previous years are important resources. It will help you to understand the type of questions and also you will become aware of your weak topics, where you need to concentrate more.
  • Official JEE FAQ:
If you are unsure about anything related to JEE, like, eligibility criteria, application procedure, marking scheme, etc. try consulting the JEE FAQ. Here, you will get the answers and don’t have to waste time by searching it else where
  • Keep eye on official news
Try to keep yourself updated with official bulletins to ensure that you don’t miss detail related to JEE.

Time Management:

  • If you plan on taking JEE then start your preparation as early as possible because it will help you cover the vast syllabus early.
  • When you have enough time for your preparation, try to focus on your weakest topics and learn them by heart. It will bring a huge improvement and your confidence level will also rise.
  • During the preparation, take as much time as you need to understand the problem but while taking a mock test try to create an environment of the original exam and try to complete your paper in a limited time. It will slowly help you to solve the problems in a fast and accurate way.
  • Make a plan in which divide your subjects and topics and set a target to finish them. If you fail then take necessary steps to overcome the loss and start working harder. Set some weekly goals and try to achieve them.
Another valuable point is to take care of your health. Eat healthy and sleep properly and don’t neglect your body. Believe in yourself and start the preparation to reach your goal.
